2017 Trampoline World Age Group Championships

During the weekend of 16 to19 November, five of High flyers most promising young athletes represented Australia whilst competing in the 2017 Trampoline World Age Group Championships.

This years’ event was held in Sofia, Bulgaria just one week after the 2017 Trampoline World Championships. With over 30 countries and nearly 1000 athletes competing, this event is truly the best place for our athletes to compete against the world’s best athletes in their age group.

The High Flyers athletes who competed:

  • Avi Margolis = 15-16 Male DMT;
  • Keara Nel = 17–21 Female DMT;
  • Kayla Nel = 17-21 Female DMT;
  • Cleo Thornett = 17-21 Female DMT;
  • Connor Dique = 17-21 Male DMT.

Our team of 5 are relatively inexperienced at this level, with it being the first opportunity for Keara and Avi to represent Australia!  It was Kayla and Cleo’s first time representing Australia at this major international event after both representing Australia at the Indo Pacific Championships previously. Whilst for Connor, this was his second World Age Group Championships.

All of our athletes competed incredibly well, handling the pressures of International competition and showing that they are more than capable of competing on the world stage! Below is a list of their results:

  • Avi Margolis = 27th
  • Keara Nel = 4th
  • Kayla Nel = 13th
  • Cleo Thornett = 21st
  • Connor Dique 16th

We want to say a ‘Massive Congratulations’ to all of our young athletes, with a special mention to Keara Nel who made it to the finals then finished 4th in the world for 17-21 Female DMT at her very first international event.

We look forward to getting back into the gym and working hard for next year, as I can see there is definitely more great things to come from all of these athletes!
