From Friday 29th September – Tuesday 3rd October 2018, High Flyer’s Athlete Sarah Jones participated in Gymnastics Australia’s Team Future Advance (TFA) Trampoline training camp. The camp was held at the AIS in Canberra ACT. Sarah was accompanied by coach Elliot Stratton. The TFA camps invite 12 of the best 15-18-year-old trampoline athletes across Australia for 5 days of intensive technical and mental training. The athletes are selected by being National Squad members, or by being the some of the highest point earners on the GA Virtual Athlete Tracking tool. Lead Coach Damien Ryan from NSW put the athletes through 7 practical training sessions, as well as strength and conditioning testing. The main focus on the trampolines was improving take-off positions to increase Horizontal Displacement Scores (HD – Travel score) and Time of Flight Scores (TOF – How high the routines is). This was also the beginning of the run in for the athletes to the 2018 Youth Olympic Games qualifications to be held in 2018. Sarah demonstrated a fantastic training attitude and effort throughout all aspects of the camp and is looking forwards to getting back in the gym and putting to good use all of her newfound ideas from the camp. – Elliot Stratton here are some photos of the event:
