The carnival was in Bendigo, Victoria, from the 17th to the 27th September. This 10 day Gymnastic’s spectacle was a fantastic event to be involved in!

High Flyers Trampoline and Gymnastics Academy’s Trampoline sports team had a fantastic event. Competing with a smaller team than previous competitions, we managed to secure 5th place in Australia’s club rankings! This is a fantastic achievment for the 24 strong team of 15 Athletes, 2 coaches, 1 judge and 6 parental volunteers.

The performances from all athletes in all divisions was fantastic, however special mention must go to the 12 athletes who made it into 17 finals at the competition! From these 17 finals we achieved 6 medals:

Travis Kikalis – 3rd place – Level 5 Mens DMT
Andrew Sumner – 1st place – Level 6 Mens DMT
Andrew Sumner – 3rd Place – Level 7 Mens Trampoline
Connor Dique – 1st place – level 8 Mens DMT
Cleo Thornett – 2nd Place – Level 8 DMT Womens
Jack Petrie – 3rd Place – Level 9 / 10 mens Trampoline

A special mention must also go to Andrew Sumner, who finalled in all three of the divisions he competed in, finishing in a very respectable 5th position in the level 5 Men’s Tumbling event, to add to the 2 medals listed above.

High Flyers also had 8 athletes compete in a World Championship/World Age Group Championship, Australian National Squad Trial event, whilst in Bendigo. Between the 8 athletes, High Flyers hit 5 qualifying scores. Athletes now have to wait to see if they are selected to represent Australia in Denmark, in November/December 2015.

All who attended this event had a fantastic trip and achieved some fantastic results. We are all looking forward to heading back to Bendigo next year.
